George is a 10 year old who was born a boy but is a girl. George isn't sure how to let others know her true self and thinks she will have to keep it to herself forever. In school George's class is putting on a play of Charlotte's Web. George wants to play Charlotte very, very badly but her teacher says she can't because she's a boy. So George comes up with a plan with her friend Kelly, not only to play Charlotte but to show everyone who she really is.

This book is one of the first books for younger children about being transgender. I read George in my Book Group at the Montclair Branch of the Oakland Public Library. I love George because it is about being who you really are and because it helped me better understand what a family friend is going through.
